Web technologies

Extending built-in platform capabilities and delivering analytical information
The capabilities of analytical platforms can be extended by using web technologies. These are used to create visualization objects and extensions for Qlik Sense analytical applications.

Web technologies help deliver analytics to the users. This is done, for example, by building graphs and diagrams into websites, displaying data on web dashboards at points of sale, or by giving employees access to analytical information through mobile apps.

Qlik extensions
The Qlik Sense platform lets you extend the functionality of analytical applications using web development tools: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, etc. Analytical panels can be developed as a whole, or they can be further extended with new visualizations. There are many libraries available for visualizations today, both free (d3.js) and licensed.

Analytics delivery and interchange
The Qlik platform open API lets third-party applications connect to the analytical solution and get information for further use. You can grant users access to analytical information by embedding graphs and diagrams into websites, or displaying data on web dashboards at points of sale, internal portals, or third-party applications. To set up the interchange of analytical information, we usually use standard data interchange formats (JSON, XML) and Python-based frameworks.
Visualization objects, UI/UX
Data is a new language that connects business functions and roles within your organization. The ability to use this language depends on how precise it is, how well your employees understand it, and how ready it is for data storytelling. JavaScript-based libraries let create your own customized objects for use in wide range applications or web sites.
Mobile applications
There are several ways to grant business users access to analytical information via a mobile device. The easiest is to connect to a server with analytics using a browser, or to use the mobile app created by the BI platform developer (Qlik Sense Mobile or QlikView Mobile). However, data access can also be a feature of the corporate mobile app, where analytical graphs and diagrams are displayed using WebView or other native OS tools. It may be a mobile application already in use, or it may be developed.
